Make a Mess is a design conference about the messy side of the design process. The main concept here is when you enter this building, you become a pig. You are here to get messy, and to do whatever it takes to get your creativity out. The different spaces act as symbols for the creative process. The Pig Sty is where the lectures take place, and top creatives share their mess. Mud at the entrance ways to the building show that this building is not a place to be tidy and timid.
This is a topic I am passionate about. I love to take creative risks, break the grid, make a mess, and push the boundaries. I decided to create a design conference where people could be inspired to be fearless creatives, where getting messy is just apart of the process.
During the final workshop attendees are "branded" to show they are creative piggies. Don't worry, it's just paint.
I was happy with how this project turned out. I believe I did a reasonable job with communicating and embodying the concept of 'Making a Mess'. I tried out some funky Ideas but didn't quite use my time well enough to have a fully messy/physical hand in. This can be seen with cleanly printed digital files and digital manipulations. If I were to do this again, I would leave more time to print, and produce more authentic final products.
It's only fitting that the process for this project was very physical and very messy. Click on the button below to see the full journey
